SINGAPORE-BASED hospitality group The Ascott Ltd. has opened a 155-unit serviced residence in Cebu City, expanding its presence in the local accommodation market amid growing demand from business and leisure travelers.
Somerset Gorordo Cebu, which opened on Oct. 30, offers accommodations for short-term visitors, extended corporate stays, and family travelers, the company said in a statement on Friday last week.
The property is located at the intersection of Archbishop Reyes Avenue and Gorordo Avenue, near commercial and retail establishments, including Ayala Center Cebu and City Sports Club Cebu.
It features 155 units comprising studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom accommodations, with floor areas ranging from 33 square meters (sq.m.) to 76 sq.m.
“Somerset Gorordo Cebu is more than a place to stay. It’s welcoming you to well-appointed and unique spaces featuring flexi-rooms of a hotel and service residence where guests can feel at home away from home,” Somerset Gorordo Cebu General Manager Gwen Hufano-Contreras said.
The property offers accommodations for both short- and long-term stays, including pet-friendly options.
Its facilities include a swimming pool, fitness area, children’s playroom, guest lounge, and function spaces. Dining outlets are also scheduled to open.
The serviced residence is approximately a 35-minute drive from Mactan-Cebu International Airport, according to the company.
The opening marks the Somerset brand’s entry into the Visayas and Mindanao and expands Ascott’s presence in Cebu.
The company’s existing properties in Cebu City include Citadines Cebu City and lyf Cebu City, while Citadines Mandaue Cebu is an upcoming development.
Ascott is a wholly owned lodging business unit of CapitaLand Investment Ltd., with a global portfolio of more than 1,000 properties across over 230 cities in 40 countries. — Juliana Chloe A. Gonzales
